Umgebung
—
(Gallery) Nano Opera
for Children Choir , Chamber Ensemble und Live-ElectronikUmgebung
is a children’s chronicle of experiences in regard to their interaction
with diverse urban environments in Neukölln. The piece implies their
particular perceptions of time, space and cultural environment,
transferred into poetry and sound art. The piece required a casting
session and a workshop (text-writing, body expression, hearing and
interacting). Professional musicians do not just react to the energy of
the text but also provoke the children with sound and music to
accentuate, temper and trigger the intensity of their reading. Thanks to
the different approaches of each child, the fictional opera characters
in Umgebung are complex, multidimensional and unpredictable.
Premiered in 2009, in Berlin.Naturban project,
48 Stunden Neukölln Festival.

for chamber ensemble (any instruments), saxophone obligato, live electronics and two
or more conductors.
Joysticks —
Joysticks exposes
compulsive video gamers as passive users of an isolating-alienating
technology. In collaboration with professional musicians, the kids play
with their voice, with founded objects and percussion instruments to
transform their expressions in real time using the joysticks as
interface, as a musical instrument. Joysticks require a
casting session and 4 workshops: "Body
expression", "Music improvisation" and "music and technology".
